The Full Story
Federation History
The forty-year history of The Federation is a proud one.
Roots in Roddenberry
The Federation was started during a telephone call between Federation founder Russ Haslage and 'Star Trek' creator Gene Roddenberry.
The conversation started with the question, "What should the ultimate 'Star Trek' fan organization be?"
The answer from Roddenberry was an easy one (though it took some guidance for Haslage to reach it):
"Do what the crew of the Enterprise does in every episode: go places and help people."
Growth
Since launching the organization on June 1, 1984 (opening day of 'Star Trek III: The Search for Spock' at Roddenberry's directive), The Federation saw tremendous growth with chapters being commissioned all over the globe.
Fulfilling Our Mission
Our world is a troubled one. War, natural disasters and other factors create need wherever one might look.
Our mission is to help those in need in every corner of the world, allowing us also to teach that inclusion, respect and understanding is the way to a brighter future for us all.
The IDIC philosophy shows us that our differences are our strengths. When allowed to meld, those differences will allow mankind to do wondrous things.
