Think the International Federation of Trekkers, Inc. is just a group of Star Trek fans geeking out over phasers and warp drives? Think again! Founded in 1984 with the guidance of Gene Roddenberry himself, this nonprofit is all about turning the ideals of Star Trek—hope, unity, and a better future—into real-world action. Sure, we love the Trek universe, but our mission goes way beyond fandom.
From delivering adaptive bikes to kids with disabilities to rushing bottled water to communities like East Palestine after a crisis, our chapters worldwide are out there making a difference. Last year alone, we coordinated efforts to support disaster relief and even served as official Toys for Tots coordinators, bringing joy to kids in need. Our headquarters at Sandusky Mall isn’t just a cool hangout—it’s a hub where 100% of donations go straight to humanitarian causes, thanks to our volunteer-driven model and merchandise sales covering overhead.
Inspired by Roddenberry’s vision of a world without greed or hunger, we’re not just dreaming of the future; we’re building it, one act of kindness at a time. So, yeah, we’re fans—but we’re fans who show up, roll up our sleeves, and help wherever we’re needed. Want to join the mission?
