Seeking guidance, he reached out to none other than Gene Roddenberry, the visionary creator of Star Trek. Their conversation sparked a remarkable journey.
Gene Roddenberry’s response was simple yet profound: “Do what the crew of the Enterprise does in every episode: go places and help people.” Inspired by this directive, Russ Haslage embarked on a mission to turn this vision into reality.
The Great Bird’s Directive
Fast forward to June 1, 1984—the opening night of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. On this momentous occasion, Gene Roddenberry officially instructed Russ Haslage to “open bay doors” for their new organization. The significance of this date extended beyond the film premiere; it marked the birth of The Federation.
