Starting a new Federation chapter in your area is relatively easy! It all starts by recruiting what we call a “construction crew.” That crew consists of 2 to 5 people (including yourself) to man the primary stations aboard a new Federation ship or shuttle. Those positions are command (Captain), communications, and/or science.
The first job in recruiting a crew for your new ship is getting out the word that a new Federation SuperStarship is under construction there in your area. The easiest way to do this is by putting flyers out wherever STAR TREK fans tends to visit. Those flyers will direct TREK fans to write to IFT for more info, then they’ll be acquainted with our new chapter in your area.
The Federation does not have a long list of rules and regulations for its chapters. The only rules are that all members aboard the IFT chapter in your area MUST be registered Federation members; and that whatever missions the ship undertakes, they are done with pride and professionalism. That’s it. We feel that our ships should have the freedom to explore fandom their way…to do what interests them, not just what some command officials at HQ think they should do. Promotions, commendations, and other such decisions concerning the crew aboard Federation chapters is made by each chapter’s command staff. We do that because the people in command of the chapters know their crews much better than we do out here.
That’s about it…quick and easy. I hope that I’ve piqued your interest in starting a proud, new Federation SuperStarship in your area. If youd like to start the construction, just let us know when youre ready. That’s one of the best parts about being a part of The Federation…support. We give our members and chapters all the support they need to make their careers in The Federation both rewarding and successful…not to mention fun.
